Course Description:
Crime Prevention Residential Applications provides students with a variety of information on crime prevention concepts and techniques, with an emphasis on home security. This course is designed for crime prevention officers, community oriented policing officers and security professionals. During the five-day (40-hour) course, participants are instructed in the areas of perimeter, exterior and interior security, including lighting, landscaping, windows, locks and alarms. Emphasis is placed on integrating the use of these components to achieve a safer home environment. Students participate in residential security surveys, learn how to organize neighborhood watch programs, and understand the importance of crime analysis and code enforcement in crime prevention. In addition to home security, several other topics are covered including agricultural and marine crime prevention, and auto theft prevention programs. 

*This course is one of three courses necessary for the Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner designation.
