Course Description:
This course is designed to give victim advocates, whether beginners or advanced social media users, the essential tools to assist victims in understanding the safety precautions to take when logging in and out of the following sites: Facebook, Twitter, E-readers, Smart Phones, Foursquare, Flickr, and Linkedin. These sites all collect users’ private information and share it with others. Often users are unaware of how this information is gathered, stored and shared. Through these applications, perpetrators have access to tools to harass, monitor and abuse victims. This training will explore victimization via social media, strategies for documenting the related evidence, and what resources are available to assist victims
