Course Description:
The Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute (FCPTI) is pleased to offer a one-day course to further enhance the practitioner's knowledge of lighting for the built environment. This class is designed to provide the participant with a fundamental understanding of outdoor street and area lighting, equipment, lighting standards and codes. It will review essential concepts including: components of a lighting system; luminaires, HID and LED light sources; exterior lighting terminology and applications; elementary outdoor lighting design; and light trespass and glare. The goal of the course is to utilize lighting as a crime prevention strategy to create a safe environment; increase witness potential; understand the relationship of lighting and color; and enhance the built environment.
