First Response to Violent Crime is a training program designed to enhance the skills of law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, hospital personnel, and advocates who respond first to the scene of violent crimes. By addressing the victim’s immediate emotional and physical needs, the first responder can gain the victim’s confidence and support. This not only fosters cooperation during the first responder’s initial contact, but also assists the victim in his or her recovery process. This course will provide insight on crisis reactions and offer strategies to effectively assist victims in the initial response to a violent crime.
