Course Description: |
The Elderly are easy prey -- be it a family member or a friend -- they will isolate and convince them that they need help paying the bills and managing their money and affairs. Florida's legal professionals have collaborated to strengthen major legal documents such as Power of Attorney and the Elder Exploitation Statute to combat the abuse of our senior citizens and stop the predators. This seminar will provide information on how to identify, investigate, and develop a plan of action to curb elder exploitation. A key to successful resolution has been in the development of team building and partnerships within the community which have initiated investigations and prosecutions.
Those who should attend are 'elder law attorneys', prosecutors, investigators, law enforcement, adult protective services investigators, state and local agency personnel, and victim advocates. The goal of this course is to enhance knowledge and skills through interactive discussions and exercises which will provide insights and strategies in understanding the complexities of aging and steps to be taken in formulating investigations and legal remedies. (Attorneys can earn CLEs for their attendance.)
