This training is designed for child advocates, law enforcement personnel, criminal justice professionals, child protection teams, child advocacy centers, guardians ad litem, and all other individuals that provide front-line services to abused children. Topics include: the legal rights of child abuse victims in dependency court, juvenile court, and criminal court; the legal distinction between child abuse and parental discipline; the confidentiality of child abuse and medical records; the use of injunctions to protect child abuse victims; interviewing children; protecting children in court; protections for children in school; and civil legal actions on behalf of abused children. The emphasis of this training is on specific Florida laws, court decisions and actions that can be used by individuals advocating for abused children.
