Course Description:
Many people believe violence on college and university campuses is rare and view campus as a “safe haven.” However, a significant number of students report experiencing some form of violence while in college. This course will discuss the range of victimizations, such as mass violence and hazing, as well as stalking and sexual assault, and provide resources and methods of support services for students and their families. This course will also explore legislative overlaps, including Title IX, Campus SaVE, Clery Act, and the critical role of victim advocates.
