This course will be held at the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, 615 Third Avenue, South, Naples, Florida 34102.
Course Description:
Innocent victims of gang violence face an array of unique challenges. In many instances victims must live among the perpetrators leading to safety concerns. Advocates will learn how to work with the criminal justice system and improve death notification practices to ensure sensitivity to diverse cultures. Other topics of concern are issues of race and color, victim blaming and helping victims understand their role in the criminal justice system after a gang-related crime.
