This course will be held at the World Golf Village Renaissance, 500 South Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, Florida 32092. Course Description:
This 40-hour basic course provides foundational training and skill development in victim advocacy and services. The course begins with in-depth instruction and discussion related to history of the victim’s movement, victim’s rights, victim compensation and the role of the victim advocate. Additional topics will include crisis reactions and intervention, professional development, ethics, sexual assault, domestic violence, advocacy, safety and technology, abuse of the elderly, abuse of persons with disabilities, child abuse, human trafficking, identity theft, homicide, gang violence, and human diversity. Participants will receive tools to utilize in providing services to victims.
*Course topics are subject to change. **Students must attend all sessions and pass a written examination to receive a designation certificate.
