Course Description: |
This three-day course was designed in response to officers who have attended the Basic Training Course and requested more in-depth training in areas such as crisis intervention, student issues, school law, gang/deviant groups, computers/internet safety and on the last day, *Rapid Response to a Critical Incident. Blocks of training are three to four hours in length and participants will be involved with discussion and activities in these subject areas. *According to police research, when an active shooter begins his attack, it is imperative that law enforcement immediately react and pursue. Aggressive action by even one person is the most effective countermeasure in stopping the aggressor. SROs realize that they are the first line of defense and must develop a plan of action. This training will review rapid deployment tactics, the role of the administration, and plans of action between the SRO and school administrators. Participants will discuss school assessments and the physical layout of their campuses. There will be practical exercises on response tactics and thought-provoking scenarios.
*A prerequisite to this course is the SRO Basic Training Course. NOTE: There will be practical exercises on response tactics. |
